Showcasing Ada Lovelace Day Outputs with Figshare

14th June 2016

Today, Figshare announced a new partnership with Ada Lovelace Day (ALD) an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). As a result of this partnership, Figshare have created a portal that will enable all outputs from ALD to be showcased under one URL: https://adalovelaceday.figshare.com.

Each year, ALD hosts a flagship science cabaret event, while independent groups put on their own events around the world. Over the last few years, Digital Science has been a supporter of ALD and in 2015 they were awarded our prestigious Catalyst Grant to expand their resources section of their website to provide a global database of information that women can use to develop their STEM careers.

The Figshare portal will complement this new resource and will showcase all outputs from past and present events including videos, photos, and presentations, as well as hosting other materials produced by Ada Lovelace Day, including their event organiser’s pack, and an education resources pack for teachers.

Mark Hahnel, CEO and Founder, Figshare says

“Here at Figshare we are thrilled to partner with ALD, as we too want to mark women’s achievements in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. What better way to do this than power the technology to showcase the valuable outputs for such a flourishing initiative like Ada Lovelace Day”

Suw Charman-Anderson, founder of Ada Lovelace Day adds:

“We are excited to be able to launch this Figshare project, which will provide central hub not just for all of our materials, but also give independent ALD event organisers a place to share their photos, video, presentations and other materials. Creating a repository for ALD-related materials will not just make it easier for our supporters to find out more about our work, we hope that it will also inspire people around the world to organise their own event in October to support women in STEM.”

This year, Ada Lovelace Day Live! Will take place at The IET, on October 11th.
