PNAS-logoToday, our portfolio company Figshare are delighted to announce a new partnership with the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). PNAS is one of the world’s most-cited and comprehensive multidisciplinary scientific journals, publishing more than 3,100 research papers annually.Utilising brand-new technology, research outputs published on Figshare referenced in PNAS journal articles will be aggregated under one portal. https://pnas.figshare.com/

This service will increase the discoverability of PNAS data and give them a greater oversight of what is referenced in their journals. By tracking mentions of Figshare DOIs in the PNAS literature, this linking helps better join up publications and research data.

Diane Sullenberger, Executive Editor, PNAS says of the news:

“As research data requirements become more embedded in researchers’ workflows, there is a risk of creating silos of academic content. By innovating in this space, together with Figshare we are looking to proactively set up linked open data workflows from the outset, removing administrative burdens from our authors.”

Mark Hahnel, CEO and Founder of Figshare adds:

“We’re delighted to partner with PNAS and as usual, our clients come up with fantastic new ways to make use of the technology we have built. Figshare already provide data infrastructure to a number of major publishers through our viewer, datastore and portal products. PNAS opted for this solution because of our ability to respond to the unique needs of the publisher in an agile manner.”

This new portal is live now at pnas.figshare.com. If you are interested in learning more about Figshare for publishers go to publishers.figshare.com and you can follow Figshare on Twitter too, they are @figshare.
