Which Papers Got the Most Attention Online This Year? #AltmetricTop100
12th December 2017
One of the best things about the festive month of December is the Altmetric Top 100 – an annual list that showcases the most popular articles of the last 12 months based on how much attention they’ve received in the mainstream news, social media, and from other online sources. It provides a fascinating glimpse into which research has really caught the imagination of a broader audience!
The top 3 papers of 2017 are:
- Associations of fats and carbohydrate intake with cardiovascular disease and mortality in 18 countries from five continents (PURE): a prospective cohort study
- Work organization and mental health problems in PhD students
- Comparison of Hospital Mortality and Readmission Rates for Medicare Patients Treated by Male vs Female Physicians
We were fortunate enough to spend some time talking to the researchers involved in the most popular papers and also to an editor about how a journal supports its researchers.
