Altmetric’s Stacy Konkiel to Attend ACRL Conference
The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Conference occurs every two years and marks an essential date for academic librarians, publishers and anyone else looking to discover the latest information surrounding the profession. ACRL 2017 features more than 500 conference programs selected and presented by leaders in the profession. ACRL 2017 will be held March 22-25, 2017, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Altmetric’s Director of Research & Education, Stacy Konkiel will be attending and speaking at three events during the conference.

Evolving Perspectives on Ten Years of Scholarly Communication from Four Scholarly Library Residents and Their Supervisor – Panel
In 2006, UMass Amherst became an early adopter of an institutional repository. The new addition demonstrated a gap in understanding for most librarians and recent graduates in scholarly communications. To address this need, the university library piloted a two-year digital repository/scholarly communication residency program. Now in its fifth cycle, the residency program has contributed four successful scholarly communication professionals to librarianship, who will share their experiences and insights in this poster.

Practical strategies for assessing digital library impact – Workshop
Institutions around the world are utilizing new technologies and strategies to measure the reach, attention, and impact of their digital collections. On Friday morning, Stacy will be running a workshop on assessment for digital libraries, including the use of altmetrics.

Using altmetrics to transform collection development decisions – Panel
Stacy will join a panel to discuss the results from a nationwide survey of US academic librarians’ and their use of altmetrics and traditional research metrics for collection development activities. You will also hear case studies where altmetrics (including Explorer for Librarians) have been used to organize and transform workflows.
