Altmetric & Peerwith Attend APE Annual Conference #APE17

16th January 2017
 | Katy Alexander

The Academic Publishing in Europe (APE) annual conference aims to create an atmosphere of debate and discussion around scholarly communication and the role of information in science, education and society. This year’s theme is, ‘Publishing Ethics: Doing the Right Thing – Doing Things Right’. From the 17-18th of January, talks will cover a broad range of topics but will spend a significant amount of time deciphering the principles and ethics of academic publishing.

List of topics covered at APE this year: research output, big data, reproducibility, peer review and quality control, rating and reputation, academic and scientific publishing, electronic libraries and repositories, open access and open science, permanent identifiers, information infrastructure, policies and reputation and sustainable economic models and long-term financing.

On Tuesday 17th January our CEO of Altmetric, Euan Adie, will be giving a talk titled, ‘How do we Measure the Iceberg? Analysing Online Activity beyond the Article’. Publishers are increasingly turning to metrics to help them make data-driven decisions, track trends and inform future strategy. Euan will explore how non-traditional metrics can be utilized to track the online engagement and interactions relating to these varied outputs. Euan will also demonstrate how publishers can interpret and incorporate the data into existing workflows to increase author satisfaction, attract new talent, refine strategy, and drive sales.
