We recently launched the Digital Research Yearbook – a modern guide to the research environment in the UK. It provides a helpful reference point for those who need a broad understanding of the UK landscape for strategic, policy or collaborative purposes.

It uses powerful graphics to visualize a wealth of data on funding inputs, research activity and research outcomes for each of the 116 research active institutions in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

The Yearbook has been created by our consultancy team and was co-authored by our Chief Scientist, Jonathan Adams, a highly experienced government science policy advisor and Martin Szomszor, our Consultant Data Scientist who also founded of the Global Research Identifier Database (GRID).

Jonathan and Martin will be hosting a webinar on 28th November at 4pm to discuss the data findings included in the Yearbook and to provide an explanation of how to use the visual displays of the data.

You will learn about:

  • Unique sector group benchmarking and comparison – see where each institution stands amongst comparable institutions.
  • A more timely, rounded and balanced picture of research activity than retrospective bibliometric analysis.
  • Innovative visualizations presenting key data about the research that each institution carries out.
