Join Us For a Cream Tea at The Frankfurt Book Fair
The Frankfurt Book Fair is fast approaching and the team at Digital Science can’t wait! Once a year, industry experts in publishing, media, copyright and more, gather to discuss, debate and engage with each other about present and future trends in publishing. It’s going to be a busy week with a number of our employees presenting and engaging there. We’ll also be hosting a quintessential British tea party at our booth! Below is a summary of what you can expect to see:
Wednesday the 19th, Our Director of Publishing Innovation, Phill Jones, will ask: Open Access = Openly Accessible? What Can We Do to Make Open Access Content Really Discoverable?
Open access publications are rising, however, access to more information does not automatically equate to better discoverability. Open access content is hidden in a plethora of sources: institutional repositories; websites that curate open access content like the Open Access Publishing in European Networks (OAPEN) and on the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ); and on publisher’s own websites. How are researchers to navigate this landscape and find relevant information?
In this session, Ingenta will bring together a distinguished panel of experts from across the world of scholarly publishing to discuss the challenges brought about by the widespread shift to open access models, as well as the ways in which discoverability of open access content can be addressed.
Where: Hall 4.2 Hot Spot Stage
When: 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Thursday the 20th, Betsy Donohue, will join a panel titled: Open Access and the Entrepreneurial Publisher
To most scholarly publishers, open access has become a fact-of-life – publishing business models have had to adapt to the times. But, as open access moves us to an author-centric environment, how do we make our businesses stronger? Panelists will draw on their experience to provide insights about current models as well as point out where new opportunities await. Discover what an end-to-end open access publishing solution can deliver.
As well as debate and discussion from a talented panel, audience members can also expect to see a one-on-one interview with Vitek Tracz, founder of BioMed Central and F1000.
Where: Frankfurt Book Fair Hall 4C (Room Concorde)

Phill Jones is keeping busy and on Friday 21st, he will take part in a session titled: Publishing Trends of the Future – Consequences for Research Outputs and Measures of Impact
