SpotOn London Is Back: Save the Date! Saturday 18th November #SpotOn17

It’s a pleasure to announce that SpotOn London is back, and this time will be held at The Francis Crick Institute in London on the 18th November – save the date!

The Francis Crick Institute is an interdisciplinary medical research institute that formed in 2015. It wasn’t until 2016 that they moved into a brand new state-of-the-art building in central London bringing together 1,500 scientists, making it the biggest biomedical research facility under a single roof in Europe.

What is SpotOn London?

SpotOn London is a dynamic, highly interactive meeting of researchers, science communicators, technologists, and those interested in science policy, outreach and tools. We are certainly hoping to repeat the success of last year’s SpotOn London where we saw 130 attendees at the Wellcome Collection gather for a day of discussions around the future of peer review.

Attended by active researchers, publishers, technology enthusiasts, science start-ups, policymakers and funders, the day was jam-packed. With a total of ten sessions divided into two strands, including panel sessions, working groups and performances – one highlight was our keynote delivered by Ivan Oransky from Retraction Watch.

We also received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees, trended on Twitter in London, and as a result of the conference a report was created titled: What might peer review look like in 2030?

Organised by BioMed Central, Nature Research and Digital Science,  this year’s conference theme will be announced soon, as well as when tickets will be released, so stay tuned.
