Cathy Holland to Speak at PSP 2017 Annual Conference
Where: The Grand Hyatt Washington, Washington D.C.
When: 1-3 February 2017
At the 2017 PSP Conference, Fred Dylla, Executive Director Emeritus at the American Institute of Physics and Cathy Holland, Business Development Manager, Publishing at Digital Science will co-moderate a panel on Scholarly Collaboration Networks. The panel seeks to examine how publishers and scholarly collaboration networks (SCNs) can work together for the benefit of research.
The scholarly publishing industry is working to adapt to researcher needs and behaviors relating to article sharing technologies and communities. Large-scale digital networks create opportunities for greater exposure and utility of scholarly research papers, but they also have potential to bypass copyright and traditional subscriptions. Can publishers and researchers collaborate to find a common ground that works for both parties involved?
Discussion points of the panel may include:
- How scholarly collaboration networks can work with publishers.
- How publishers can leverage scholarly collaboration networks to better engage their communities.
- A conversation about article sharing.
The goal will be to identify some concrete actions SCNs and publishers can take that benefit the research community and thus themselves.
